The Story

Travel planning should be as exciting as the trip itself, not a logistical burden.

Navia was conceived to solve the disconnect between dreaming and doing. Modern travelers exist in a fragmented ecosystem, oscillating between TikTok for inspiration and spreadsheets for logistics. This creates friction that often kills the spontaneity of travel.

Our mission was to build a comprehensive lifestyle application that integrates generative AI with a visual-first discovery engine. The goal was to guide the user seamlessly from that initial spark of interest in a destination like Tokyo, directly into a booked itinerary, all within a single interface.

The Challenge

Cognitive overload was leading to decision fatigue and abandoned plans.

Users were forced to toggle between social media for inspiration, search engines for validation, and booking apps for execution. This fragmentation made the process stressful.

We needed to design an onboarding and permission flow that established trust immediately, allowing the AI to access location and preference data to deliver hyper-personalised results without feeling intrusive.

The Solution

A hybrid interface balancing functional AI chat with immersive media.

We created a dual-mode interface. One side offers a TikTok-style video feed for passive discovery, while the other houses a robust AI Chat Assistant powered by Ollama 3. This allows users to instantly pivot from watching a video about a Parisian café to asking the AI to “Book a table there for two.”

Process

Discovery & Mapping

We began by mapping the traveler's journey, identifying specific pain points where users felt overwhelmed. We identified that the "Permission" and "Profile Creation" stages were critical for gathering data needed for AI personalization

Hybrid Interface Design

Wireframing focused on blending a chat UI with media feeds. We utilized a vibrant purple (#6C5CE7) alongside our primary blue to evoke creativity during the initial design phase, refining this into a clean, modern aesthetic.

Prototyping & Flow

High-fidelity prototyping ensured smooth transitions between the "Chat with User" mode and detailed destination guides. We paid special attention to login and profile completion rates.

"The design didn't just look good; it fundamentally changed how our users interact with travel content. The AI integration feels natural, not forced."
